Call for Participants

The 9th IFToMM International Summer School on Screw Theory Based Methods in Robotics (Summer Screws 2023) will take place from June 18 to June 24, 2023, at Delft University of Technology in Delft, The Netherlands. Building on the successful editions in Beijing (2015), Montreal (2016), and Melbourne (2017), this event is designed to teach attendees how to apply existing methods and develop new ones in their own research.

The program will introduce basic theoretical notions in a rigorous manner, with a focus on examples, applications, and exercises. This summer school is suitable for Ph.D. students, post-docs, M.Sc. students, and academic staff, as well as participants from industry who want to enhance their skills in this field.

Summer Screws 2023 is scheduled to take place at Delft University of Technology, a world-renowned technical university that boasts a student body of over 23,000. Situated in the city of prominent artists Johannes Vermeer and Theo Jansen, the university can be easily accessed from Amsterdam Airport (a 37-minute train ride) and Rotterdam Airport (just 30 minutes by bike) and even by boat (Hoek van Holland / Port of Rotterdam).

For those seeking a little outdoor fun, the beautiful North Sea beaches are only 12 km away and can be reached by direct tram. This is the perfect spot to sample some typically Dutch brined herring or take a refreshing swim.
